Senior
Process Systems engineer on Kerosene Hydrotreating &
Hydrocracking for major U.S. refinery expansion project; Gasoline Desulfurization unit
and Offsites/Utilities/HSE systems design
- Team member in process evaluation of
extra heavy crude oil alternate to Alaskan North slope, with focus on
twin merchant Hydrogen plants, Calciner SOx/NOx evaluations, and fuel
gas/steam balances
- Led initial design of $10
million European 3-refinery project for plant/laboratory performance
reporting
- Deployed portable software to estimate
product yields from just limited crude oil assay data, able to calculate
value of spot tanker purchases. During Iraq war, trained staff
worldwide in three weeks!
- Supervised five staff in applications
and databases for plant operations, labs, maintenance, engineering,
economics and planning in a $1.2 billion complex (natural
gas-methanol-gasoline)
- Implemented plant-wide databases via
LAN, with graphical charts on-line for process unit and product
quality performance assessment and trends
- Tuned detailed methanol process
simulation models to plant data for process optimization, and steam
system dynamic control settings, resulting in accurate product yield
and quality prediction plus safer, more reliable response to process
upsets
- Co-author and analyst of failure causes in
$20 million reformer equipment damage and downtime
- Achieved 9% increase over design
capacity of twin 2,000 ton/day methanol plant at NZ SynFuel
- Analysis and solutions member of
energy audit team for large research, commercial, military
facilities
- Performed crude oil refinery revamp
equipment simulation, unit process equipment specifications and
instrument loop commissioning
- Conducted crude oil refinery startups and control panel
operator/field operator on-the-job training
