Landlord-Tenant Dispute with Ubau Family
Counter-Claim by Colin Andrew and his father Robert Andrew:
see below for index of supporting Documents and Photo Pages

The Ubau family, owners of 122 Longfellow St in Washington DC in August 2007 filed a case in DC's Tenant-Landlord court to evict Colin Andrew. This case - with its racial overtones - is being brought while Colin is weeks from completing his degree at UMES, interfering with his study time.

In addition, in August 2007 the Ubau's removed the washer and dryer where Colin and his dad had installed the power and plumbing in 2004 for a common laundry area for both tenant and landlord. This removal (see the two
Landlord Removing Laundry Facilities  photos) is clear indication of harassment to get Colin to move out by making it more costly, less convenient to do his laundry.

This page has an index of documents supporting a counter-claim: that the Ubau's in fact owe Colin Andrew and his father for major improvements made to their house, by construction of a fully-functioning efficiency unit within their basement. It only lacks kitchen equipment promised - but not installed - by the Ubau's, thus drove up Colin's living expenses needing to eat out more.

In 2004 Colin spent over $7,000 plus 500 hours of labor with his dad to construct this efficiency  in return for free rent over the years while Colin was still in University. This verbal agreement was witnessed by Bobby Fadavi and Colin's Dad (see photos) who also worked on the construction.
