Neighborhood Notes - Foxhall: 8 November, 2000Next Wednesday, November 15, FCCA will hold its annual meeting in the Hardy Rec. Center at 7:30 pm. A slate of candidates will be up for election as Officers and Board members, including Pete Ross who is standing for the position of President, as this incumbents three-year term is up. I will stay on the Board for next year ex-officio, and look forward to supporting Pete. In his offer to serve, despite an understandable chagrin in losing a Ward 2 Councilman Democratic primary, Pete shows his commitment to neighborhood services and planning is genuine and sustained. The meeting will feature the new Neighborhood Planning Coordinator for Ward 3 Robert Collins to talk about Neighborhood Cluster Plans. You might ask why Foxhall is included in a Ward 3 cluster we have always been included in the same Comprehensive Plan issues as the Palisades and Wesley Heights, because of our overwhelmingly residential nature, also for our non-historic district status (quite unlike Georgetown, whom we have been yoked with politically in ANC2E only since the mid 80s Census adjustment which took us out of Ward 3 to make up for Ward 2 population loss). Council could still change Ward boundaries yet again after 2000 Census data is released in April 2001, to keep Ward populations equal as required by the Home Rule Charter. © Bob Andrew, Foxhall |
