Neighborhood Notes - Foxhall: 30 January 2002
Community involvement ideas are churning in the minds of newly elected board
members of the Foxhall Community Citizens Association (FCCA). Jessica Miller,
the FCCA’s 2002 Special Events Coordinator, says she wants to make sure the
neighborhood has even a stronger sense of community by adding a touch of
hospitality.
The plan is that Scott Polk, Advisory Neighborhood Commissions
representative, will alert Miller to new neighbors, so they can be welcomed into
the community by other area residents. Miller plans to arrange welcome baskets
and community brunches for newcomers to the neighborhood.
“I want neighbors and new people to meet,” Miller said. “I want to make sure all
the neighbors know each other.”
Also on the to-do list is a “carnival style” community picnic on June 30.
Don’t be surprised if a “moon bouncer” for kids, face painters, arts-and-crafts
activities, and lots of food lures in a crowd because plans are already in
motion. Miller expects to collect donations from the neighborhood to finance the
event and is seeking volunteers now.
“I am looking for volunteers to help with craft activities and to paint faces,”
said Miller. “Maybe there could even be a talent show put on by youth.”
