2008   Ras Tanura Integrated Project, Saudi Arabia
Interface coordinator between licensed process units and infrastructure, including all piping, racks, roads, cables, safety systems

2007    Marathon Garyville Major Expansion

Did sizing and hydraulics for unit-level OWS system capacity to handle equipment loss of containment plus 10-year rain storm. Worked with Piping on 3D model for underground to ensure no conflicts with storm sewer or fire main.

2006    Giant Refinery, Yorktown, VA

·         Sized, specified and requisition new package cooling tower to handle new S-Zorb and ULSD units.
Did detailed design of cooling water intake for vertical pumps per the Hydraulic Institute standards.

·         Ran FlareNet model for extension of new 18” flare header into existing 24” to flare knockout drum.

·         Ran a case study for their coldest day to ensure no condensation in event C4/C5 mix release to flare

2005-2006       BP Refinery, Cherry Point, WA

As part of process study of options for Canadian extra heavy crude oil, was responsible for the baseline history of steam, fuel, water and hydrogen. Used “PI” historian to establish annual mean, maximum and seasonal variations. Evaluated opportunity to use one of the two existing flares for new/modified units and demonstrated a third flare was required.  Reviewed on-site vs. pipeline terminal storage options for product movements by ship and/or pipeline.

1998-2005       Environmental Protection Agency

As internal consultant to DynCorp – later CSC - supported multiple Work Assignment Managers in EPA Oil Spill program on mitigation options for above-ground, below ground and pressurized storage systems. 1993-1995       Mobil R&D Corporation

Chaired API’s MACT subcommittee for storage tanks, on external seal/internal floater design options to reduce emissions for promulgated Refinery MACT rule. Under EPA’s Emission Inventory Improvement Program worked with the developer of “TANKS” software to extend its capability to more tank designs.

1985–1987       New Zealand Synthetic Fuels

Conducted commissioning performance tests on all O&U systems for a $NZ 1.2 billion synthetic fuels complex. This included instrumenting a 300-meter long cooling tower for CTI test. Other systems tested were demineralization, reverse osmosis, cryogenic nitrogen generation, waste water treatment.

1977-1981      PetroUnited Terminals, Bayport & Texas City

·         Master-planning for specialty chemical storage, marine load/unload and design of wastewater treatment.

·         Responsible for detailed design of 100,000 bbl butadiene storage tank at atmospheric pressure.

1976–1978       Intercontinental Terminals, Deer Park

·         Did refrigeration requirements, storage system design of four 65 ft diam butadiene spheres

·         Treatment of dilute chemical wastewater with large equalization/FW pond and trickling filter.
